So you want to build a Dory? Great idea! It is a lovely boat design. And when you’re done, you will be adding to the time-honored maritime traditions of useful boats. Few people choose this style, therefore your work will be demanding but oddly gratifying. You will have every right to be proud to be the owner of your own Dory.
After you choose a set of Dory plans, and many can be found on-line, take a moment to look at all of them. Each set of plans needs a bill of materials used. Paints, varnishes, some adhesives and Fiberglas resins have dangerous fumes that have to be ventilated. A number of fumes are even combustible, so purchase a good quality fire extinguisher.
